Chrissy understands that the timing and content of traditional antenatal classes do not suit everyone.  Chrissy offers private antenatal classes to suit the individualised needs of mothers and families of the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers. These classes will empower mothers and families, and allow them to feel confident in their birthing journey. This will assist you to make informed, evidence-based decisions. Upon booking, Chrissy will discuss with you your goals for childbirth education and mode of birth; vaginal or caesarean section. The comprehensive course is ideal for first time families and includes discussions on:

• Warning signs during pregnancy
• Signs & stages of labour & when to go to hospital
• How labour begins & induction of labour
• Active birth positions for first and second stage of labour (incl. water birth)..
• Birth preferences
• Role of the support person
• Normal birth
• Pharmacological analgesia available, including advantages & disadvantages for mum & baby
• Unexpected outcomes, including instrumental birth, episiotomy & caesarean birth
• Characteristics of the newborn
• Breastfeeding & expressing
• Parental adjustment & postnatal depression
• Nappies, wraps, SIDS & safe sleeping
